March 2010
We really enjoyed our stay at the
homestay and felt really well looked after by the whole family.
We particularly enjoyed the plentiful dinner served under the
stars on the beach. It was a magical evening and the food was
delicious. My parents were happy to have the opportunity to try
home cooked Fijian food and spend some time in a Fijian village.
It was also a great experience for me, having spent 3 months
living in a city in Fiji, to get a taste of village life. I
found Tupou to be a very warm and lovely hostess.
Best wishes,

I wanted to stay in a village and chose
Dannys Homestay. I was met at the resort and driven down to the
Coral Coast to DANNYS where I spent two days.
Dannys right on the water and I’d recommend this village for
families - Saki and Toupu were excellent hosts and just couldn’t
do enough for me.
I accompanied them out fishing, snorkeling and gathering coconut
seedlings for transplanting. Coconut palms take near on 20 odd
years to mature. I will be close to 80 before someone climbs the
palms I planted.
I could not help notice that boats from the local resort were
bringing their guests to snorkel in the water just off the beach
outside my cabin – where I relaxed with a cold beer ( Alcohol is
OK )
Henry, from the village, my snorkeling guide
said this was because the waters in front of Danny’s has been a
marine reserve for past 6 or so years and this is the best
snorkeling on the coral coast…I could not agree more as there were
huge schools of fish…the giant clams are an awesome site, right
off the beach in front of Danny’s.
The home stay is excellent, cabins that have beds, and eating is
in the main Dining kitchen area set up with tables and chairs.
Again meals were traditional Fijian food with plenty of fresh
fruit, vegetables and fish.
There was a choice for Breakfast from a cooked breakfast eg: eggs
in the style you prefer, scrambled, poached or fried through to
casual. I was happy with toast and tea.
Water is boiled on an open fire for the separate private shower
cubicles.
I would recommend to anyone contemplating a holiday in Fiji to
consider spending a few days in a village – To Experience the real
Fiji. The stay directly goes to support the village community and
positively improves their lives.
Thanks to Parrish you did a good job putting my trip together,
thanks for making my Fiji experience one I will never forget.
Pass my thanks onto Sake and Tupou at Danny's.

My partner and I had the pleasure of having Simon take us
snorkelling just off Beqa Island a couple of weeks ago. He showed
us a great time and I thought it would be nice to send some
business his way. David Smith, New Zealand.

Please pass on my thanks to Sake and Tupou for a wonderful two
days with them. Please pass on the
photos I took of our stay
as I said I would send them. I stayed with my two boys aged 12 and
10 at the Naviti Resort on the Coral Coast and had a wonderful
time. It was excellent. Lots of kids to play with my advice just
go straight to the pool and encourage the kids to join in playing
with a group of kids and you will be lying back on a sun lounge
having a drink and they will be leaving you alone.
As you know during the day we went
to Danny's for the Village Day Tour and it was the best day, a
real highlight of our time away. It was so good we went back the
next day and did the Waterfall Tour with Sake and Tupou. Sake and
Tupou are so friendly and hospitable nothing is too much trouble.
We got to see a local school which was very interesting compared
to Australian schools and Sake put down a
lovofor our lunch. We saw the whole process from start to
finish but the best part was the eating of it, just wonderful.
Snorkeling in the bay right in front of the village was also
great, Tupou and Davis made sure we saw the best spots. The
Waterfall Tour was great and I was amazed how many people Sake and
Tupou knew. I guess going with the locals make all the difference.
Once again please pass on out thanks and we will be back as my
boys want to try the homestay on Beqa Island next year. Cheers.
