Things to do while staying at
Lawaki Beach House other than fishing
#1 thing,
relax and unwind, you can do as much or as little as you
like.
All
activities at Lawaki depend on the wish of their guests.
There is not a fix program or plan to follow. Depending
on weather conditions or tides or weekdays, they will
suggest what is possible today and what not: you just
have to choose from.
Lawaki’s most famous activity is
the HOUSE REEF FOR SNORKELLING just off
the door steps. There is no need to hire a boat or go
any where else. This place will keep you busy for some
time.
They do their best to inform you how to “treat” the
beautiful home of so many species, to keep this
vulnerable environment alive as long as possible. So
that Beqa’s future generations will still enjoy living
here. They will even give you a snorkelling lesson if
you are beginners, so that you can spend part of your
holiday watching the underwater world and forget about
the rest above.
The
snorkelling off the beach is FANTASTIC with a
reef just meters off the beach right in from of Lawaki
Beach House but if you
wish to snorkel, you are advised to bring your own snorkelling gear.
There is some snorkelling equipment for hire but it is
advisable to bring your own gear.
SNORKELING GEAR: per day F$ 7.00
DIVING: ask for rates. The is done in
conjunction by a local dive master.
KAYAK: F$ 5.00 per hour.
HIKING: F$ 13.00 (village project, fees
will pay for the guide, the maintenance for the path and
the rest goes into the annual school fundraising)
MASSAGES: ½ hr F$ 15.00. The relaxing
massages at the beach are a real treat. The money goes
fully to the massage person.
SCHOOL VISIT / incl. boat transfer: F$
36.00 for one pax / 1 + pax = F$ 30.00 p/p (F$ 13.00
as donation to the school, F$ 26.00 / 20.00 return boat
fare. If the tide and fitness allows, we walk to the
village or try to walk one way)
CHURCH VISIT ON SUNDAY: return boat
transfer F$ 26.00 for 1 pax / 1 plus pax = 20.00 per pax.
A donation to the church is expected. The trip is
recommended since you will experience that special
Sunday feeling in a village.
SAND DUNE TRIP, min of 2 pax:
F$ 175.00 plus F$ 20.00 per person. A sand dune appears
at low tide only, almost out at the reef of the Beqa
Lagoon. It is a snorkelling and picnic trip, sometimes
for breakfast, sometimes for sunset. Often also in
connection with a fishing trip. We only travel to the
sand dune at perfect weather conditions.
FIREWALKING at the close by Beqa Lagoon Resort:
(on Wednesday only)
F$ 35.00 p/p (20.00 for firewalking / 15.00 for return
boat fare) To watch the famous Beqan Firewalkers on
their homeland and not just in any resort or any where
in the world is a must. The legends with it will be
introduced to you at Lawaki.
MATWEAVING: Lawaki staff would show you in their home
how pandanus trees are growing and what it needs to get
the material ready until you can start weaving. You
could probably do a small sample? Again, the full money
charged will go to the host and lady who teaches you.
Approx F$ 15.00-20.00 depending on the material you are
using.
ANY TRIPS TO NACEVA or NAISEUSEU: (one way trip)
for 1 pax + F$ 13.00. More than one pax = F$
10.00
